One-off levies on bank deposits or wealth

What it is
Extraordinary taxes charged once on the stock of deposits, financial assets or net wealth on a fixed date, often announced overnight.
Why it counts
The state takes a slice of accumulated savings directly, with no chance for savers to move funds once the reference date has passed.
